One of the best parts of the engagement process is the engagement photos. It's when everything becomes real, and things start to pick up speed in the planning process. While things may get stressful during the wedding or elopement planning, try to enjoy it.

If you're starting the planning process and looking for dress rentals in Utah, you've found just the spot!

Especially if you're planning to take photos on the Salt Flats.  As a Utah dress rental shop we've got a variety of beautiful options ranging from maternity to engagement & elopement dresses.

As a Utah elopement photographer, I help all of my couples with the session planning as much as possible. If you're considering renting a dress for your engagement session but unsure where to start, I've got you covered.

First, you'll want to book your engagement session at least 3-9 months out. This gives you plenty of time start planning travel details and to brainstorm outfit ideas and find your perfect dress.

Next, as we get closer to your engagement session you'll want to book your dress. I always suggest booking anywhere from 6-20 weeks out. Oftentimes the more popular gowns get rented early, so if you're looking at a specific dress get it booked sooner than later.

If there are a couple dresses you have your eye on, rent multiple! Not only do most of my couples book dresses from Salt Gowns for their engagement photos, but they oftentimes book 2-3. You can take full advantage of the Harsh light, Golden light & Blue hour light with 2-3 outfit looks. You will have the most diverse photo gallery that you can share on socials & print and hang on your walls for remember your beautiful moments forever!

This is a once in a lifetime event that should be celebrated, and make you feel beautiful. If wearing a Salt Gown dress can make you feel that way, I say both looks is always better.

At the beginning of your engagement session I always suggest couples arrive to the shoot in their casual outfit. The dresses will come later. When planning your casual outfits, especially if you're at the Salt Flats consider wearing earth tones or neutrals. Not only do these shades look the best for a timeless look, but it allows the Salt Flats to really show off. I always suggest a black and white outfit for the Salt Flats too. It's a classic look that always looks stunning!

Last, save your favorite outfit for last. We'll plan your session to end around golden hour and blue hour. This is when you'll get the best lighting and your outfits will look the best. Blue hour lasts anywhere from 3 mins to 15 mins. Time is of the essence!
